DANGERS OF VANDALISING PETROLEUM PIPELINES IN NIGERIA

In the recent times,vandalising of petroleum pipeline is a common occurrence in the country. It occurs almost on daily basis as some unscrupulous Nigerians vandalise pipelines in order to scoop petrol which they always sell to make quick money.In most cases, people claim that poverty that has surrounded the country is responsible for this unreasonable act.The truth is that most Nigerians want to make fast money without having to work hard.
It seems that does who do such act are indiscreet as they don't think about the danger that can occur.

First and foremost, it could lead to a large scale death of several people including the innocent. This is so as petrol is highly inflammable and can cause fire which have been one of the fatal consequence of petroleum pipeline vandalization which also leads to lost of properties such as houses which are built near pipelines.

In addition to this,the resultant health hazards on survivors living around the venue of such fire-outbreak is great. This is dangerous to the health of the people and can lead to more death.

Furthermore, vandalization of petroleum pipelines is regarded as economic sabotage and anybody caught engaging in the act is treated as economic saboteur.

In conclusion, petroleum pipeline vandalisation should be discouraged as it is harmful and risky for anybody who engage in such criminal act.
