Making Major scales on piano.

'Basic terminology is given in the mid of this article'

General formula; it is applicable for all major scales.

  1. Root note(any).

  2. Full step.

  3. Full step.

  4. Half step.

  5. Full step.

  6. Full step.

  7. Full step.

  8. Half step.

Root note; the note from where you wanna make the scale.

Half step: means playing two consecutive notes where there is no note present between them..
Eg. C note then C# note.

Full step: means playing two notes where there is a note between them..
Eg. C note then D note.

Formula for C Major scale:

  1. Root note i.e C
  2. Full step i.e D
  3. Full step i.e E
  4. Half step i.e F
  5. Full step i.e G
  6. Full step i.e A
  7. Full step i.e B
  8. Half step i.e C

C,D,E,F,G,A,B,C'

Formula for B Major scale:

  1. Root note i.e B
  2. Full step i.e C# ( # means black key)
  3. Full step i.e D#
  4. Half step i.e E
  5. Full step i.e F#
  6. Full step i.e G#
  7. Full step i.e A#
  8. Half step i.e B

B,C#,D#,E,F#,G#,A#,B#

USING THIS FORMULA, a beginner can play all the 12 major chords without any confusion.
