Romance in the Putrid Sea of Modernity

This piece is challenging for me. I kept the image of the couple kissing in the center, despite wanting desperately to remove it. The piece is massive, 9,000 x 9,000 pixels, and the majority of the image is made from distorted images of trash heaps. The blue that cuts across diagonally is a stitched together tiling of beautiful, light blue water. In the center is an old photograph of a couple kissing, superimposed on the chaos. The image at the center is 2560 × 1540 pixels, but it is dwarfed by its context. The chaotic, bubbling rot of industrialism seethes through the romantic image, and melts it like multicolored plastic. A kiss, large enough to be a poster of its own, is seen pathetic and drowning in the acid bath of unnatural, modern color.
Breathtaking, glitchy, romantic, powerful. Great post.
Thanks man!
