Dolphins at work from a few years back
These pictures are from when I used to work down in Milford Sound, which confusingly is not actually a sound but a fjord. It was carved out by a series of ever larger glaciers rolling down the valley over successive ice ages. They didn't have google when they were naming things back then though.
These days I work in the Marlborough Sounds, formed by river action they are true sounds.
The mountains aren't quite as large up here but the climate is much kinder. Like the mountains down in milford the dolphins are bigger as well, the water is colder and they tend to grow much thicker blubber layers.
The boat I used to drive down there was 20m and displaced 40 tons of water wherever it went and the dolphins loved playing the wake.
The mountain in the centre is called Mt Kimberley or The Lion, it looks like a crouching sphinx from the other direction, I have photos of that somewhere if anyone wants to see let me know. It is 1301m high, the concave cliff portion you can see was created by a process called glacial plucking where water gets into cracks and then freezes and expands. Massive power.

These shots are phenomenal! Do you do a lot of wildlife photography?
Thanks! Mostly landscape/seascape stuff. Not much good with humans or animals. I have a few bird shots but count them as dinosaurs.
