Super Blue Blood Moon | an evening to remember
🌕 This year's Blue moon was a great opportunity to capture a fantastic photo, a photo I am proud to present. It was one over a century opportunity, since they say that January's 31st Full Moon was the first to happen after 152 years!
What was so special?
This year the full moon coincided with a blue moon, a super moon and a lunar eclipse. The last date that such a phenomenon happened was back in 1866, but unfortunately the lunar eclipse was not visible from Athens, Greece. So he had just a Super Blue moon that day in Athens! 🌝
OK and what about the photo?
Professional photographers say that in lunar photography you need some planning ahead, so you can feature a landmark with the moon over it... and in Greece we have an iconic landmark to achieve this, Acropolis!
So, when my favorite night photographer Alexandros Maragos posted an open invite to photograph the full moon together, I grabbed the chance to be on the perfect spot for that type of photography. So, with the guidance of a professional photographer and of course based on his selection of the perfect spot I managed to have an iconic capture!

How many shots did you take to get this one?

Some planning was done prior to the shot... and some research on the location!
The shots are several but they have to do with different moon position related to Acropolis, this take is my favorite. I have other shots that moon is over Acropolis or on the right but for me this one the most impactful!
