Some people think luxury is the opposite of poverty. It is not. It is the opposite of vulgarity.

Wild is not an extravagance but rather a need of the human soul. 

A library is not an extravagance but rather one of the necessities of life. 

Luxury must be agreeable, else it is not extravagance. 

I don't care for luxurious inns. I like little, diverse lodgings, and extravagance for me would mean better than average organization with great sustenance in a truly loco, delightful house amidst a field where somebody came and adjusted the place for us.
