Tyger Tyger, Burning Bright !
One of the most thrilling moments during a wildlife safari in India is when you are graced by the presence of a wild Tiger.
This majestic Beast gets your heart racing even when you can't see it and hear the alarm calls from the other animals. Most of the safaris you'll be able to see fresh pug marks of the tiger and signs of it being close by yet so far away. There is a saying that goes in Indian wildlife sanctuaries - "Don't worry if you don't see the tiger, it has seen you."
A young tigress who has just left her mother to go solo Luckily She was in a little open space. Such amazing camouflage this beauty has, it makes it very difficult to spot.
The same tigress.
Due to poaching and habitat loss, India has lost majority of its tigers. The current population is around 3890 throughout the country. Thanks to intense conservation efforts, the number is up as compared to some 1400 5 years back.
Most Indian wildlife safaris are done in open jeeps. If the tiger decides to attack the vehicle it can easily do it. But luckily they just don't give a damn about humans (normally). Else the only thing that can save you is prayers.
Growing up in Nagpur was a blessing because it is the tiger capital of the country, (any direction you leave from the city, you can find a Wildlife Sanctuary within 100 kms)
Really, If you haven't seen a wild tiger, you are missing out the true thrill of being in the wild.
Hope that these beautiful, elegant animals stay with us for times to come, So that we get to see them in their Kingdom.
Thanks, For reading,
