Sunrise over Frodsham, M56 motorway England UK

in #photography5 years ago

I hate early starts, but I really wanted this shot with the sun rising over the road and the row of pylons. I decided just to pull an all nighter instead (ouch, that was a mistake) but the journey did bear fruit.

The sun rose a touch more to the right than I had anticipated, but I still got what I was after. To my left and behind me there is Stanlow oil refinery and Ellesmere Port, to my left and ahead of me is the river Mersey and Fiddlers Ferry power station. It is a very industrial area - I like industry in small doses but I wouldn't fancy living here. Catch the wind just right and the air absolutely stinks!

I then attached my Sigma 85mm and was able to get this shot. These were taken in early May; the position of the sun tells me that by the solstice it will probably be rising where the road disappears into the distance, just at the end of the row of pylons. If I can bear the early start and the weather is good to me, I may consider a revisit for that shot. Watch this space.
