TimTravels - Hello London, nice to see you again! Day #3

in #photography7 years ago

Welcome back my dear Steemian friends to another episode of TimTravels!

I have some good news for you! First of all, this post is the third of four parts of my journey to London. Since I am back to Steemit and finally have more time, the MyPictureSunday and MyPictureDay contest will continue!

For those of you who haven't heard about this Steemit exclusive contest, check this link. Things will become interesting since the prizes will be paid out in SBD. So there is much to be won now!

Secondly, I just booked my next flight to the Alps! Time for skiing and it will be the perfect opportunity to take some breathtaking shots of the mountains. My DJI Mavic Pro is ready and will fly high. Furthermore, the next travel will go to South Asia, beginning in March but more on that later.

As promised in the last part of TimTravels - Hello London, nice to see you again! Day #2 I present you some of the shots I took in London at night.

One of the most famous landmarks of the city, the London Eye also known as the Millennium Wheel. Located next to the Themse and near the Westminster Bridge it's one of these landmarks you can't miss. At night it's even more impressive to watch since it's glowing in a warm, red light. Did you know that with its height of 135 m it's the highest Ferris wheel in Europe?

Day or night, London never sleeps. The streets are at night just as busy as they are during the daytime. It's like a clockwork that never stops, it simply runs and runs and runs. Whether it's the tourist that explores the city, the local people that go to or came from work or simply people that want to spend the night outside. London is always busy.

Between all these people I felt very small. I could stand still between the crowds and they would simply circumvent me, not paying any attention. The mass flows together in harmony and was like one big organism. Loud cars, flashing lights, bright screens with fancy ads and countless people make this city at night come alive. Because of the incessant flood of information your brain receives, you would feel overstimulation.

I have one simple trick in these situations. Grab my camera, look through the viewfinder and see the whole scenery as part of a movie. I am the camera, the world is my stage.

Here is a little sneak peek of the next and last part of TimTravels - Hello London, nice to see you again! It shows some other street photography and another famous landmark of London, the Tower Bridge.

Tomorrow I will make another post about typical German Christmas markets I have visited. I haven't checked the pictures myself yet, so I hope I took some great shots for you, my Steemian friends!

Until then, Steem on!

Yours,
Tim

Looks like fun. I'm from the UK and I went to London once in 1997 and I have never been back since. I thought it was expensive, dirty, busy, unfriendly and allround nasty. Never been a city type right enough.

I just went to London over the summer, and I have to say it was none of these things. Perhaps it deserves a second visit. It was one of the cleanest cities I’ve been to. The buses are very nice and clean, the tourist sites aren’t too hectic, and the only mean people tend to be us foreigners. It was not a very cheap city, but in my experience the City of London and the City of Westminster were cheaper than New York City. Maybe because the US dollar has had a strong run this year 😉

amazing photos! what a post!
