The secretary bird has the longest legs of any bird of prey.
Secretary birds prefer to walk rather than fly, and average about 20 to 30 km a day on foot.
Secretary birds may spend most of their time on the ground, but they are good fliers.
When they do fly, they fly well and often at great heights.

The secretary bird is a large, mostly terrestrial bird of prey.
Endemic to Africa, it is usually found in the open grasslands and savanna of the sub-Saharan region.

Its common name is thought to derive from the crest of feathers.
These quill-like feathers give the appearance of a secretary with quill pens tucked behind his/her ears.
Secretary bird is not immune to the snake poison, and it has to be sure that its prey is dead before to eat.
Secretary birds often hunt in small groups or in pair, and keep contact by hooting.
