Ladies getting a dump of snow!

in #photography7 years ago

For those you who don't know me yet - my name's Thomas. I'm semi-professional and passionate photographer who lives just outside Oslo, Norway, Northern Europe.

Norway is a pretty cool place! We got 4 distinct seasons with down to -50 degrees celcius in the winter and up to 35 degrees celcius in the summers. As you can imagine this affects the life and energy on the streets and that's where I come in. Every day, walking from the Oslo Central train station I carry my camera with me and I capture the everyday life on the streets of Oslo.

Interesting faces. Ugly faces. Pretty faces. Cool situations. Bad situations. Funny situations. The list goes on.

The point is that it's happening right there and then. All candid. All pure. All true.

My only mission is to capture it as well as I can and to do so - I really have to anticipate a lot. Anticipate the movement of people before they enter my frame. It all needs to click together.

Some of the coolest images come together when I'm waiting at a spot. Waiting for it all to click together. Typically I've found a great spot and I just need the right people to populate my scene at once, without disturbing the natural flow of the scene.

The fine ladies you see in this photo below were captured on my way between meetings during my workday. The snow was pumping and I love how umbrellas are multi-purpose-weather-tools. Great for rain. Great for sun. Great for snow. I'm not sure exactly why they've stopped right here in the middle of the street. It seemed like they were discussing something and I just went briefly by them making their photo.

Great contrast and composition. I love the balance of the image with the empty road and clear lines along with the spacing of the women with their solid black figures. The blur on the first face but sharpness on the second really gives depth as well.

I'm a South African photographer and just did a street post as well. I'd love if you took a look and told me your thoughts! :)

Thanks so much for the insightful comment! Truly appreciated! I will certainly have a look at your post. Wish you a great evening in South Africa!
