A Prayer for Self-Forgiveness
A few days ago one of our favorite Steemit bloggers, Wren from @mountainjewel, tagged us in a post on self-forgiveness.
Her article was so heart-felt and vulnerable. It moved me very much.
She gently invited us to write about our experience with self-forgiveness. So here's my response...
There are so many specific and mundane things I could list that I have had to forgive myself for.
I tend to be REALLY hard on myself for times I have not been present for my boys.
Ultimately, the behaviors/feelings I tend to shame myself for the most...have a few underlying themes. And those themes are...confusion, separation, disconnection, and time-based mentality.
Whether it's yelling at someone...lashing out in blame...withdrawing my love...hurrying to get from point A to point B...or abusing myself.
No matter the circumstances...it's all related to momentary amnesia...forgetting my eternal connection to Source, Consciousness, God, Goddess, and the present moment.
Furthermore, it's only when we can forgive ourselves...that we are able to authentically forgive others.
By forgiving us...we deepen our capacity for compassion and unconditional love.
This is essentially what is referred to in the Lord's prayer as "our daily bread".
"Give us this day...our daily bread...and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us."
~Matthew 6:9-13
I have a hunch that self-forgiveness will be a lifelong, yet nourishing and rewarding, endeavor.
So I prepare myself for the opportunity...with a respectful rendition of "The Lord's Prayer."
Prayer for Self-Forgiveness...
"Great Spirit, help me to forgive myself for using "(insert name or concept here)" to separate myself from your unconditional love and the awareness that there is only ONE and only NOW.
Thank you for the gentle reminders that the more I become aware of my breath...the less I lose track of that connection to you.
I hereby accept responsibility for my part in the cosmic set-up. Yet my innocence deserves forgiveness and compassion from the only one who can provide it for me...my own deep inner presence.
I herby release all contracts and bonds that hold me tethered to that space of entitlement and victimhood.
I am the savior, the beloved, the whole-mate that I have been waiting for.
And so it is done.
Time to play!!!"
Aloha beloved co-creators in wholeness. I pray that this inspires you to forgive yourself and love yourself MORE...not less...in those vulnerable moments of amnesia.
We are all just little kids...wanting to play and just BE...in love!!! Forgive yourself...and let the playful joy begin!!!
