Colour Infrared Photos of the Angel of The North
Introduction
Last time I took some photos of the Angel there was an issue where I had accidentally switched to JPEG only mode on my camera so I couldn't use white balance to create the false colour IR versions.
Today I had a chance to go back and get some RAW photos.
It was also nice because the sky was more dramatic with dense rain clouds. As always it is a struggle to get the exposure right and I think a lot of it is down to things looking very different in IR compared to visible light.
I also noticed that from certain angles the angel itself was very dark and I suspect that this is due to it not emitting IR light as well as the the surrounding non metallic objects.
I also noticed that slight changes of angle can make a big difference to the light balance and hence the colour you end up with after white balancing.
Hope you like them. As always feel free to use them in your own posts as per Steemit4free.

THIS is a HUGE statue! Wow, #7 & #9 are by far my favourite. Thank you very much for sharing the results of your photography with us all. Namaste :)
Yes it is about 70 feet I think. Thanks for your support!
It's good to see you getting back into your photography. I get a different vibe from these photos as I typically do from your photos. So it would appear you have the ability to pull off more than on style.
Also, I had no idea how huge this thing was until seeing human figures juxtaposed next to it in these photos. It's fucking huuuuuge.
Thanks so much mate. Yes it is big about 70 feet tall! The weird thing is you don't realise even if you are near it unless people are standing next to it!
Yeah it is monstrous. Reminds me how much I want to go see this one in Senegal one day.
It must be incredibly humbling to stand beside something so monumentally magnificent.
Wow is that real?
That was my first thought when learning of it too. lol
I edited the last comment to add another photo from quite a distance away. I'll be going to see it one day. It's called "the statue of African renaissance" if you wanna look it up. It's 160 ft high. I think you could take some fucking good photos of that.
Wow! It looks like something you would see in a movie.
Indeed. Perhaps it ought to be in a movie. But, that goes against Hollywood's agenda. They like us all to think that Africa is full of people living in huts and shit. This speaks to the contrary. Hence why so few in Western civilization even know about its existence.
Yes I had never heard of it!
the amazing images
Thank you:)
Way cool!
Thank you:)
sixth and eighth are my favourites.. Nice job! But I also liked JPEGs haha :)
Thank you:)
Wow, TIL about that statue.
I kinda wanna put some solar power panels on it. :P
Lol!
I really like pictures 5 and 6, amazing photography :)
Thanks. I just wish I could get them looking more consistent!
Practise makes perfect, keep trying :)
I will for sure :)
Good :) I look forward to seeing more
