Early Days Of Dubious Relationship (Old Family Photos)

We’ve been going through some old slides that came from my wife’s grandfather. These are from 1958 when he was stationed in Saudi Arabia.
It’s evident from the photos that there was a large, ostentatious parade perhaps celebrating the recent acquisition of what is apparently a whole bunch of American ordinance.
Anyway, I thought I would share a few with you.
I found them interesting. Hopefully you’ll agree.

This goes back to around three years prior to Eisenhower’s famous farewell speech warning us about the military industrial complex.
If, on the off chance that you have never listened to this speech, I would recommend taking a few minutes to do so. The first time I heard it, I was still a statist. Perhaps even bordering on a neocon. This speech made a great impact on me and went a long way towards blowing away the fog of propaganda and indoctrination that was limiting my understanding at the time.
