"U N F O R G I V E N" Le Dramont. South of France.
Opposite the cape of Dramont, at 200 meters, is the island of Gold, island of about 200 m long, on which is built a square tower of medieval but modern style.
The red rock (rhyolite) is characteristic of the whole massif of Esterel; it is of volcanic origin and dates from the Permian (primary era).
Other rarer blue rocks (esterellite) result from magmatism of the tertiary era and are exploited in large quarries of the district of Dramont.
