Nymphs, fairies and fauns (Ninfas, hadas y faunos).
Nymphs (Ninfas).
Muchas culturas suelen absorber las costumbres y creencias de las naciones que las precedieron, es por eso que resulta complicado ubicar el origen de las leyendas. Hoy les traigo a tres criaturas que bien pudieron surgir en los mitos griegos o las historias romanas, lo realmente importante, es que siguen siendo parte del imaginario del ser humano, en películas, ilustraciones o cuentos para todas las edades. Las características que estas criaturas poseen nos ayudan a crear un perfil diferenciándose de todas las demás.
Many cultures tend to absorb the customs and beliefs of the nations that preceded them, which is why it is difficult to place the origin of legends. Today I bring you three creatures that could emerge from Greek myths or Roman stories, but what is really important is that they are still part of the human imagination, in films, illustrations or tales for all ages. The features that these creatures possess allow us to create a profile that differentiate them from the others.

En la primera imagen nos encontramos con una ninfa que pertenece al grupo de las Sílfides (aquellas que viven en el aire), comúnmente solemos asociar a las ninfas voladoras con las hadas, pero, lo que las diferencia es su tamaño. Las ninfas tienen el tamaño de un ser humano mientras que las hadas son diminutas como un pulgar. Otra referencia importante que hemos tomado para la creación de estas piezas, son las pinturas del increíble Roberto Ferri. Él posee esa fantasía barroca que tanto nos gusta, representando la figura humana con una belleza inigualable. Tomando un poco de esto y un poco de aquello construimos una fotografía cargada de mucho simbolismo, explicándose por sí misma.
The first image shows us a nymph that belongs to the Sylphs (those the live in the air). We commonly see these flying nymphs as fairies but, what sets them apart is their size. Nymphs are as large as human beings while fairies are as small as a thumb. Another important reference that we took for the creation of these pieces, are the paintings of the amazing Roberto Ferri. He possesses a Baroque fantasy that we really like, representing the human form as an unparalleled beauty. Taking a bit of this and a bit of that, we built a photograph charged with much symbolism, explaining itself.
Deva.
En la segunda imagen nos encontramos con una Deva, una pequeña criatura relacionada con la luz del sol, se dice que su piel es dorada y que viste hermosas batas transparentes. Su similitud con los ángeles y seres celestiales es evidente (en el hinduismo y el budismo también podemos encontrar deidades denominadas Devas). El término ' Deva ' en sánscrito significa "dar brillo a uno". Continuando con el hilo fantástico, a esta imagen también le añadimos un poco de magia.
In the second image we find ourselves with a Deva, a small creature related to sunlight. It is said that it's skin is golden and dresses with beautiful transparent gowns. It's similarities with angels and celestial beings is evident. There are also deities in Hinduism and Buddhism called Devas. The term "Deva" in Sanscript means "to give brightness to one". Following the fantasy theme, we added a little magic to the image.
Faunos (fauns).
Y para culminar, tenemos a un Fauno o Fatua (del sexo femenino). Estos suelen confundirse con los sátiros, puesto que ambos son seres del bosque con el torso superior de humano y la parte inferior de ciervo o cabra. Para los romanos, los faunos representaban la inteligencia, la belleza, el talento y la delicadeza. Mientras que los sátiros son descritos como tontos, ingenuos, pícaros y sinvergüenzas.
To wrap things up, we have a Faun or Fatua (female). These are commonly mistaken with Satyrs, because both are forest creatures with human torso and goat or deer legs. For the Romans, fauns represented intelligence, beauty, talent and delicacy, while satyrs are described as foolish, naive, rogues and scoundrels.
