Walking through San Telmo - shots of Original Wall Art

in #photography8 years ago

Buenos Aires has some of the most unique graffiti in some of the strangest places.

San Telmo is an area just south of the city center and an area where most tourists want to stay. It's rustic with brick streets and old bars and restaurants. Peru street turns into a mall all weekend and the bars don't close until 6:00 a.m.

These were taken on a corner at the base of a fairly nice apartment building.

Of course, if you have something nice, you need to surround yourself with bars.

This building has blue skies showing through the shudders. Whoever bought it has to brick up all doors and windows before squatters get in and start living there. Then the artists took over.

Next door, I noticed they used old tires as a railing between the buildings. Evening shadows were invading but strange enough to be included.

San Telmo changes as you go from one block to another...

This one is on a news stand (so you would not see it if today weren't Sunday)

This one - right outside my door - is as presented sideways just as you would see it walking down the street. It's on the 2nd floor, facing someone else's terrace.

Some are old and dulled by time - others colorful and fresh. Just a glance at what we saw while walking eight blocks to get dinner. Enjoy!

All of these photos are my original work, taken in and around this area of Buenos Aires city (Argentina)

You would think so. Funny. Thanks for the comment.

I was just shooting graffiti and ran across it. There were decent buildings and shops on either side and it was right in the heart of touristville. Occasionally you see one of these. Investors come in and restore some - others get bricked up and / or taken over.

I thought I would include it because at least the graffiti was in English.

The lizzard guy is my favorite

I remember visiting there. It's just as I remember it. Nice shots.

Nostalgia! I lived Buenos Aires for 5 months and loved it. Bought the coolest little handmade diary book at the San Telmo market. Thanks for sharing, following you :)
