A Walk Along a River in Baoding China. Photo Journal.

in #photography3 years ago

Baoding is considered the 7th largest city in China but it feels much smaller.

Spring festival has just kicked off and we’re all on holiday. Most shops and businesses are closed for about a week. Schools are closed until March. So, I find myself with some extra time to explore this city I am new to living in. I can see this river outside my apartment window and wondered what is it was like up close. I decided to take a walk along its banks the other day, and here’s what I saw.

The weather was sunny and for winter the temperature wasn’t too cold. I often could see people fishing along banks before the frost set in. I never saw any catch anything though. I wanted to see what was in the water. It looked pretty crystal clear from 16 stories up. For the past few months workers had diverted the water flow and they dug a deeper trench for some unknown reason. What could they be doing? Read on and find out.

I am sure a dragon lives in there.

By now I started walking north away from the river

A random grave found in the trees. It’s been recently visited as you can see fresh fruit and ashes of burnt paper offerings. I blurred out the name since I am not sure of Chinese traditions of photographing tombstones.

And that was my 14,000 step walk. I hope you enjoyed it.

As for what were the workers doing. It seems they reinforcing the dirt banks with new cement banks.
