First of all, I want to add that I am not fortunate enough to travel constantly. In my case, it's almost a luxury that I can rarely afford. But when I can, I take advantage of it photographically speaking.

I still remember when last September of 2017, I had one of the most beautiful experiences of my whole life. I still remember as if it were yesterday, when I was able to visit a city with which I have a small special bond, since my ancestors lived here for a while. This is Carcassonne, the emblematic medieval city located in Occitania, in southern France.

Quiero añadir, en primer lugar, que no tengo la suerte de muchos de viajar constantemente. En mi caso, es casi un lujo que rara vez me puedo permitir. Pero cuando puedo, le saco provecho fotográficamente hablando.

Todavía recuerdo cuando el pasado septiembre de 2017 tuve una de las experiencias más bellas de toda mi vida. Todavía recuerdo como si fuera ayer, cuando pude visitar una ciudad con la cuál tengo un pequeño vínculo especial, pues antepasados míos vivieron un tiempo aquí. Se trata de Carcassonne, la emblemática ciudad medieval ubicada en la Occitania, en el sur de Francia.

It won't be as popular as Paris, but when you mention someone the name of Carcassonne, the first thing that will come to mind will be the walled citadel declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. In any case, for me Carcassonne is more likeful for me than the busy City of Light, although I still have a pending assignment to visit it some day in the future. In any case, once in the citadel, I took out my Nikon D3300 reflex camera and started to take pictures. Here I share those that in my opinion seem the most significant. Enjoy them.

No será tan popular como París, pero cuando le mencionas a alguien el nombre de Carcassonne, lo primero que le vendrá a la cabeza será la amurallada ciudadela declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO en 1997. De todas formas, para mí Carcassonne es más de mi agrado que la tan ajetreada Ciudad de la Luz, aunque tengo como asignatura pendiente visitarla algún día en el futuro. En todo caso, una vez en la ciudadela, saqué a relucir mi cámara reflex Nikon D3300 y me dispuse a tomar fotos. Aquí os comparto las que a mi opinión me parecen las más significativas. Disfrutadlas.

In black and white, the Intervallium, the space between the two walls. It was about 3 in the afternoon, it was quite clear. The feeling of loneliness with the absence of colors makes me profound ....

En blanco y negro, el Intervallium, el espacio entre las dos murallas. Eran sobre las 3 de la tarde, estaba bastante despejado. La sensación de soledad con la ausencia de colores se me hace profunda...

Crossing that arch was a strange sensation, as if it traveled in time. We could talk about "timetravel door". There you if you want to interpret it as a nod to one of the best Spanish series of all time, "El Ministerio del Tiempo".

Atravesar aquel arco fue una sensación extraña, como si viajara en el tiempo. Podríamos hablar de "una puerta del tiempo". Allá vosotros si queréis interpretarlo como un guiño a una de las mejores series españolas de todos los tiempos, "El Ministerio del Tiempo".

In the middle of an almost absent light, a window beyond the walls of the citadel, where God "is no longer to protect" the misfortunes of the wolf that is man. In the old days it served as a warning not to risk going beyond the walls if it was not necessary.

En medio de una luz casi ausente, una ventana hacia más allá de los muros de la ciudadela, donde Dios "ya no está para protegerte" de las desdichas del lobo que es el hombre. En los viejos tiempos servía de advertencia para no arriesgarse a salir más allá de las murallas si no era necesario.

But seeing the stone giants and their loyal cypresses with their beautiful presence, you will not want to cross the wall. At least, not for long. In my case, three hours.

Pero viendo a los gigantes de piedra y a sus leales cipreses con su bella presencia, no querrás atravesar el muro. Al menos, no por mucho tiempo. En mi caso, tres horas.

Further in, the crowd, the old houses and the souvenir shops. A Gothic window is the one that, however, stands out for the sunlight of that September afternoon. In spite of how labyrinthine the streets of the citadel might seem, it was difficult to get lost, nonetheless.

Más adentro, el gentío, las viejas casas y las tiendas de souvenirs. Una ventana gótica es la que, sin embargo, destaca por la luz del sol de aquella tarde de Septiembre. Pese a lo laberíntico que pudieran parecer las calles de la ciudadela, era difícil perderse, no obstante.

Basilica of the Cité. Simply beautiful, another important icon of what Carcassonne was during the Middle Ages. Too bad I could not visit her that day inside, and less take pictures. Anyway, it's still something captivating for my lens.

Basílica de la Cité. Simplemente hermosa, otro ícono importante de lo que fue Carcassonne durante el medievo. Lástima que no pudiera visitarla ese día por dentro, y menos tomar fotos. De todas formas sigue siendo algo cautivador para el objetivo.

I had not planned to publish any photos related to cemeteries, but I can't but recognize that the sense of timelessness that the combination of tombs transmits with the walls and towers of the citadel is legendary. From politicians to soldiers of the Great War, they rest here.

No tenía pensado publicar ninguna foto relacionada con cementerios, pero no puedo evitar reconocer que la sensación de atemporalidad que transmite la combinación de las tumbas con las murallas y torres de la ciudadela, es legendaria. Desde políticos hasta soldados de la Gran Guerra descansan aquí.

To finish this photographic exhibition, to the historic mayor Jean Pierre Cros Mayrevieille and the architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc we can only tell them, for restoring the citadel and save a piece of incredible history, merci.
