MZIMA SPRING
Mzima spring is a series of natural springs in Tsavo National Park in Kenya. It is the biggest attraction in Tsavo national park.
The source of the springs is a natural reservoir under the Chyulu Hills to the North. The Chyulu Hills is made up of Volcanic lava rock and ash and its too porous to allow river water to flow. The water filtrates giving rise to the Mzima's famous clear stream, which flows through a series of pools and rapids
The stream is blocked by a solidified lava flow. The spring acts as residence for hippos and nile crocodiles
The hippos browse the sorrounding savanah by night and return to Mzima spring by day. You dont have to be a botanist to enjoy the mzima trails.
It’s easy to spend a couple of hours in the area: try to sit for a while completely alone on the bank and you’ll begin to piece together the ecological miracle of the place, as the mammals, birds and other creatures forget about your presence.
This is a best place to visit.
