#001 Changing days - My guitar needs an extreme makeover

It was the late 2008 when my father, after months, bought me my first guitar. I truly love to give names to everything that belongs to me so we will call her "Clarissa". Clarissa is an entry level Eko bought for 80Eur on an online store, but she's got the hearth of a signature Gibson.

Here she is in the day of her re-birth, because after 10 years i've decided to exterme makeover her aspect. No more black lacquered paint, scratches and old random scribbles, i wanted something new and personalized.

_The Hard Part

I was looking for something colourful, easy to make, not too expensive and to increase the volume (because of her low-price, the sound was quite low). After many researches on references, i found a "jamaican - italian" flagged guitar, easy to do, cheap and pretty cool.
Bought all the tools i needed i went on the roof of my building and started sanding down the black laquered paint, supported and helped by Martina (my housemate).

Funfact: Have you ever tried to sand down a whole guitar painted with laquered paint below 40° grades of sun? Holy God.

19 hours of work, 12 beers, dozen of sand paper sheets, 1 pack of tobacco and the work was complete!

And here we are! A naked Clarissa, with her low quality wood and that grungy style that shouts BLUES.

_Paint and let it dry

After many hours of relax i went back on the roof just to check wood conditions scared by the humidity. Armed with spray paintings, scotch and brushes i took her and start tracing guidelines for painting the Jamaican/italian flag.
Something happened now but i have to tell you..I'm not a genius so sometimes i do things that are not the most recommended: The red spray painting wouldn't open so i decided to open it with a key...This was the result:

It din't work, there was an "easy-open" function on the side of the spray can that i din't see before.
After 3 hands of paint and many hours to let it dry, here we have our extreme makeover - Guitars Edition:

_Conclusions

The only cons is that the weather was truly hot but what a satisfaction watching at her right now! The sound is improved thanks to sanding down harmonic zones and the look is "imo" much better than it was!
