Into the wide world #2. (Ship ahoy)
Good morning dear Steemers.
Today I want to show you the next stage of my travels that I made more than a year ago.
As you maybe have seen in the last update I posted, I worked on a old sailing ship during my first few months I lived in Australia.
When we took the plane from Singapore to Sydney we where lucky because the plane wasn't full so we where able to choose the seats of our liking. and of course we went for the seats with a lot of leg space and we had had a good chill on 8000 meters above the sea ^^
Crappy photo but you get the idea.
So we arrived in Sydney quite well and where able to feel the real deal and we moved into the most crappy hostel you could find in town. The room was smelly like old wet clothes and mess was covering the floor.
So a good reason to move on quickly..... The first few day's we spend on crossing the city looking for a apartment to life for a few months. But after two days we realized that wasn't the good approach, the more important thing was a job. So spending a day surfing the internet we came across job on a sailing ship ( the Soren Larsen). After a few mails we where invited to have a little chat, my friend as a plumber and me as a mechanical engineer where the perfect match for what they where looking for.
So after 3 days in the hostel we changed the scenery for a sailing ship to call it home. My friend as deck hand and me as a on board mechanic so give love to the massive old diesel engine which idles at 18 rpm :O and was every morning nicely started with compressed air to get the pistons moving. But enough of it lets move on to some footage of this life changing journey.
My new colleagues hanging in the rigging, and yes in the very near future we where also expected to climb the masts.
View from the bow onto the wide ocean
Holding on very tight on the first time at open waters :)
My bunk bed in the bow of the ship, when the anchors where lifted you could forget about sleeping :P
The interior, this is the place where we chilled out and had dinner most of the time.
And yes I also made it in to the rigging, this is in Sydney harbor in front on the opera house there is where we woke up often.
So far so good, I have to prepare for a little journey to Holland at the moment so I have to keep some real sailing for the next update some where next week.
I hope you guy really like this stuff and feel FREE to ask me questions about it.
Thanks and Steem-on to you reach what you wanted
