 HI STEEM COMMUNITY
How are you guys today, ? hopefully we are in good health and always eager to work on this great platform.

Dragonflies are one of the insects that we often see in certain places like the park or around the house. As with butterflies and bees, dragonflies also experience metamorphosis in their lifetime. The difference is, butterfly insects have perfect metamorphosis, whereas the dragonfly does not, or just imperfect metamorphosis. Starting from the eggs then become the larvae and eventually become the adult dragonfly that can fly beautifully..

  1. Dragonflies are one of the ancient insects, they have been on earth since 300 million years ago. The largest fossil dragonfly ever found on earth has a wingspan of more than 3 meters.
  2. This animal is an Odonata-type insect with more than 5000 different species scattered all over the world. In the United States alone there are more than 400 species, let alone this vast Indonesia must have more species of living dragonflies.
  3. We may often see a dragonfly on the surface of the water. Why is that? It turns out on the water surface that dragonflies put eggs that will then hatch into larvae. They are also very alert with the area like the water surface so often we encounter 2 dragonflies that fight each other for the fight over the territory
  4. Although it looks very beautiful, dragonfly is actually a malignant insect. Since hatching from eggs, they are carnivores who like to eat other animals. At the time of the larvae, they eat plankton, small fish, and other larvae. As their wings begin to grow, the young dragonfly has a special body part around its head that serves as a stick to make it easier to catch small fish. In adulthood, dragonflies are a natural predator of mosquitoes, so that a large population of dragonfly can be an effective controller in overcoming the spread of mosquitoes in a place.
  5. Almost the entire life of a dragonfly is actually spent when they are larvae. The dragonflies themselves live about 3 years, after which they just morphed into winged adult dragonflies. Today's dragonflies survive only a few weeks because their goal metamorphoses only to find a partner in order to dilate the marriage and finally be able to continue the offspring.
  6. The front dragonfly wings are longer than the wings of the dragonfly on the back. This form of wings makes dragonflies can fly very fast up to 50 km / h and can perform various maneuvers in the air starting from moving sideways, back to down a subject matter. Its shrewdness in flying treats them as the fastest insects on earth.
  7. One of the most interesting things on the dragonfly is the shape of his eyes. This insect has a large eye with thousands of lenses that are like the bees. With big eyes and these sides, the dragonfly can see in all directions. This is what makes us a bit difficult when wanting to catch this animal even from behind it though.
