A ride to Pangong Tso lake
Hello Steemians. I wanted to share some pics of a great place in North India - Ladakh and the most sought out location in this region is Pangong Tso lake also known as 3 idiots lake after it appeared in a hit Indian movie - 3 idiots.
I had been to Ladakh twice before but due to shortage of the number of days in hand, I was unable to visit this beautiful lake. But in this 3rd attempt, I finally made it and am glad to share the experience with you.
First glimpse of the lake
Pangong Tso is a high altitude lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of 4,350 m (14,270 ft). The lake is 134 km (83 mi) long and 5 km (3.1 mi) wide. Just imagine the vastness of this amazing natural beauty. Nearly 40% of the lake lies in Indian borders and rest extends in China. The lake can freeze completely during winters despite being saline water and is inaccessible for most time of the year. You need to see it to admire it's beauty.
In order to reach here from Leh, you have to cross the second highest motorable pass (Chang La) which is claimed to be at a height of 5,360 m or 17,590 ft. The route from ChangLa is not aways in good shape. You have to cross multiple water streams and tackle the very steep slope while nearing the top.
Once you are Chang La top, don't forget to enjoy the complimentary hot tea from Indian Army. Due to high altitude, it is not advisable to spend much time here though.

Happy me :)
Hope you enjoyed the place and the pictures.
