Analytical Agency Turstat identified the small cities of Russia that are popular for travel during the summer weekends, 2017.
The ranking includes cities with a population less than 10 thousand people.
The town of Gorbatov in the Pavlovskiy district of Nizhny Novgorod region was in the top 15 most popular "small" tourist cities.
According to the census, it is home to only 2, 2 thousand residents.
Top 15 most small towns in Russia, popular with tourists on summer weekends, also included Bolgar (Republic of Tatarstan), Plyos (Ivanovo oblast), Myshkin (Yaroslavl oblast), Vesyegonsk (Tver oblast), the Gdov (Pskov oblast), Novosil (Oryol oblast) and others.
Gorbatov famous as an ancient center for the production of ropes.
Near the town is a resort area for vacation.
