Playing With The Camera: Trolls And Snow

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Today I didn't feel like writing. I tried being creative in other ways instead. I was just going through some of my shots and figured, since spring is here for good why not say goodbye to winter with some pictures of the last snow of the year?

And who would be a better model than my favorite troll?

Ah! This is nice, melting snow is giving its place to the green grass slowly.

Oh! Looks like the sun found you!

Now let's go and find a log to pose on ;)

Chop! Chop! Get down there, little man!

Hey! Don't go hiding in the holes! We need to get back home!

Yes, I know you like it here, but we have a post to prepare!

I promise, I will bring you here again!

Yes, and maybe next time the little red house is open ;)

I hope you guys liked my "experiments" and little story with Mr Purple Head up there. That's all for today. See you soon! :)

Thank you so much for your time!

Until my next post,

Awesome landscape by the tree stump /log! Where is that?

The mountain scenery is a military camp with a ski resort with free access for the public. We visited it with trumpman a couple of weeks ago.

The rest of the pictures (with the grass and the red hollow stump) are from my garden ;)

Awesome!! I’m so used to Greece (Crete) in the summer that it’s sometimes surprising when I see the different seasons in photos.

you still have snow there? I thought the way trumpman was posting you guys were in sandals and sundresses by now

The snow up in the mountains hasn't melted yet. We visited a ski resort with trumpman a few weeks ago. We did no winter sports though...

We are finally climbing out of the grips of winter here. It has been a long cold one. I am ready for some heat.

Ok! I promise the next photos will be more spring-like :P

What camera did you use for these pictures? The second image looks like you took it with a Pentax LX limited edition camera.
Nice shots

No, it's a Nikon D3300 series.

That's a cool DSLR camera

D3400 here :P

Minimum differences between the two models, though.

Oh, I forgot. Mine is that 3300 :)

No, I got a Nikon D3400.

These are from two different days, different scenery and lighting. Some from my garden and the rest from a trip to the mountains.

Thanks @samminator! ;)

That's a professional camera. It's really cool. No wonder the shots are awesome

Good to see you enjoying that DSLR. Unfortunately, a friend damaged the lens autofocus function. I can only take pictures with mine in manual mode.

Ooooh! Bummer! How did that happen? I get some weird signals too. It can't autofocus when I am too close to an object and it won't let me take a shot. But that doesn't happen with manual focus on...

It seems that auto focus is not your problem... any camera lens has a minimum focus distance which is related also to the focal length. In your kit lens the minimum focal distance seems to be 25cm at 18mm so if you are in auto mode it will start blinking to highlight that you are out of focus. In Manual you are still out of focus but the camera will let you take the photo :).
If you need to go very close to an object you may need a macro lens, or close up filter which are cheaper! Enjoy your camera and give us some more stories!

My kit came with an 18-55 and a 55-200. The thing is, I even got that no-focusing thing when I had faces about half a metre (or more) in front of me. And I got it with both lenses in different situations...
Thanks for the help! ;)

για αυτό έχουμε το steemit να μοιραζόμαστε πληροφορία! Στον 55-200 αλλάζουν τα πράγματα είναι πάνω από 1m!
check here για τον 55-200 και here για τον 18-55!

Αααα, ευχαριστω! Θα τα κοιταξω!!

I'm suspecting the friend tried to turn the lens when it was in auto mode. Either that or it somehow fell to the ground or something.
Mine never gave any issue till a friend borrowed it and returned it. Didn't use it for like a month and when I tried found out I've lost the autofocus function

I see (I have tried to turn the focus ring while in auto mode, especially in the beginning when I was not very familiar with all the buttons and functions, but the problem occurred recently. I think I will just drop by the place were I get my photos developed to ask the photographer there).

Have you tried asking anyone that knows about cameras?

Yes, I did but I never took it there. It was over the phone. The person was suspecting that there was an issue with the micro stepper motor that control the movement of the lens as it adjusts automatically. Never had time to take it to the vendor. I'm even thinking of upgrading the stock lens to something with more depth of field(bokeh) effect.

I see...
Once you make sure it's the lense and not the body, I'd say go ahead :)
Hope you got this figured out soon! :D

I'd have to check with other lens to be sure it's the lens before upgrading. Thank you.

Ha, ha, ha! I love this @ruth-girl. 😂 Great post!

first one is best one of them,i like it most
