Generally multicellular, eukaryotic (having cell nucleus membrane), has no chlorophyll, so it is heterotrophic, some are parasitic, some are saprophyts, and there is a symbiotic (mutualism) forming lichenes.

Generative by conjugation to form zygospora, askospora, and basidiospora. Has short diploid descent (short-lived). Habitats in damp places, contain organic substances, less acid, and less sunlight.
