Gold Dredge and Dragline
Just outside of Maldon at Porcupine Creek we came across this old dredge and dragline. Maldon was once a flourishing gold mining region, and these pieces of equipment were used from the 1950's right up until the 1980's when they were decommissioned.
The dredge and dragline are on display to remind us of Maldons grand history.
It was a wet and drizzly morning, but that did not stop us from having a good look at these rusty relics.
You can see the scale of the machinery as my wife is dwarfed by the dragline
Here is a couple of close ups of machine parts. It looks like these units were well constructed, as they still seem to be in fairly good condition considering their age and being stuck out in the open to cop all of the weather.
