CLOSE TO THE CREATURES WITH PAPA – ARMADILLO

in #photography7 years ago

I got to take my turn at trying!

Yesterday I shared about how we got some really good photos of some armadillos by me holding them still and our seven year daughter taking some pictures with my new camera. Pinkie-Pepper did a great job and we had some excellent results from her effort.

Still, as good as her photos may have been, I still wanted to try to take some myself, and be able to get my own angle on these incredible creatures. I just wasn't sure how to pull it off, without holding them still. Then, I remembered an abandoned bridge nearby, so I took the armadillos with me, since I wanted to relocate them away from our property anyway. I figured that it just might give me the opportunity I needed, and I think it worked great.

ARMADILLOS ON THE BRIDGE PHOTO SHOOT

While I didn't risk trying to photograph the pair together, I did get some great solo shots. Armadillos are such a peculiar creature anyway, but up close they look even stranger. Here are some of my favorites. See what you think.

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

I love the little guys, hence the name of the homestead haha! When my wife and i first camped at the property were living at now the first animal sighting we had was a poor dead armadillo face down in our creek. We named him Phil, said a few words, and gave him a proper burial complete with rock carin and gravemark. From that moment on, we were armadillo creek. :)

Wow! What a username!

Took a sec to find the Photo, RIP Phil!

What a strange looking creature they are! Awesome shots of them :) Can you touch them? What do they feel like?

You can touch them, but they can carry leprosy... so not everyone does. They remind me of snapping turtles, just without the snap.

Eeek...scary :)

Oh, leprosy is not a nice disease, so I get why some people prefer not to touch them. I suppose it's best to put on gloves at least.

Leprosy not being nice could be a little bit of an understatement lol. Thanks for the info though as I would have been dumb enough to try an pet one if I ever see one.

Haha, that's true! Well, they do seem very petable, so I get why you would do that ;)

Became intrigued with those large lovely lizards when I first saw one in The Clash Video - Rock the Casbah. Thanks for the flashback @papa-peeper!

I forgot about that!

Your right they are a very peculiar creature and up close they look strange because they have like a scaled texture and a deer shaped face!!

Very interesting, aren't they?

Armadillo's are bizarrely cute!

Yes they are!

Glad to hear it, thank you!

Hey man, these are some really great pictures! My hats off to Pinky-pepper, I think she might have a future in photography. Beautiful creature as well.

Yeah, she did a nice job with the first round. Thanks man!

excellent photos, in my country they call it cachicamo.

Cool, thank you for checking it out.

I'm guessing you took these with your new camera? I liked this one the best. It's an awesome perspective right down there on the armadillo's level.

My favorite as well.

It is a nice perspective! Also, it looks like it is in its "natural environment"... the road!

Only most of the time when you see them on the road they are a little less lively. LOL

Yesterday I said that I would love to see more photos of this little guys. And today you surprise with more photos of them...I love it!
Keep being great, man!

LOL! What are the odds of that! Hopefully tomorrow you will want to see an Opossum.
