Photo reportage : The trades of yesteryear
Last weekend I attended a regional festival, the old trades were represented by the inhabitants of the village. Costumes and demonstrations were represented.
I think it's important to keep that part of our history in mind.
The dentelle
Lacemakers and lace-makers use bobbins and hooks, the work is meticulous, some craftsmen can make true works of art, the precision of lace can hardly be achieved mechanically.
Wool
Wool workers harvested sheep's wool at the beginning of the warm season, after a long cleaning process, the wool is spun and transformed into spools to knit clothes afterwards.
Santon craftsman
Santoniers create figures or decorative elements in terracotta. Their achievements are mainly used during the holiday season.
“La lavandière” washerwomen
She was in charge of washing the laundry of restaurants, hotels or private individuals at the municipal wash-house.
Fishermen
The fishermen started their day very early in the morning so that they could bring the fish back to the market, they spent their days repairing the lines.
The flea market
The flea marketer meet on the weekend in village squares to sell old used items.
The musicians
Often shopkeepers of the village, the musicians have always animated village festivals. Often accompanied by dancers, they give good humour and dynamism to events.
Super bonne idée pour un Festival :)
Merci, j'aime bien les fêtes de village, y a toujours plein de trucs à manger ^^
