The Castle Of Montjuïc - Barcelona
After a nice, almost summer-like week with temperatures around 25 degrees, we had two days with cold, windy mornings with some rain.
I tried to warm myself with browsing through my recent photos from distant warm places. Today is also Friday and I think it's @calemandra's blue sky color challenge.
When we climbed the Montjuic hill in Barcelona it was a perfect day with the perfect blue skies.
Let me show you.
Climbing could be an easy task, especially if there is cable car available. We didn't shed the drop of sweat to reach the top. At the same time, we could admire the city from above and took some shots.
Well, before we enter a gondola I saw this beauty by the road and put my camera on test. It did quite a good job. For the smartphone of course.
The Castle.
A lot of history happened behind this door. Many heads were parted from their bodies too. Check on Wiki if you don't believe me.
City panorama from behind the wall.
Before the castle, there was a fortress on Montjuic hill to guard over the port. I wish I have more time to delve deeper and research about the history of Barcelona and I know I'm missing a lot. But the day has only 24 hours and we have to set the priorities. Unfortunately, history is not on top of the list.
Here is the port. Still a crucial part of the city.
You can see what I meant with guarding. There are many of these still sitting around. Just in case.
Guns and Roses.
The rose looks like my shirt when I forget it in the dryer overnight but its a real one. Or maybe is a poppy. I'm not an expert.
The trail around the fortress's wall with a beautiful view of the city and port.
Thousands and thousands of tourists from all over the world visit Barcelona on cruise ships every year.
There is always a place in the world for the flower to grow. Even in the wall crack. I don't know how it manages to survive in the hot sun without water and soil but it looks happy and healthy to me.
Just a random shot,
and the last view of the Castle.
Today's theme was blue skies. Remember?
Back in the city. Thirsty.
I saw the word Sangria on every menu and I must say It looks good too. Even the word itself looks and sounds good and fancy.
I ordered the big one. What can I say? I was not impressed.
But hey, what do I know?
I'm just an oldtimer.
See ya.
Beauty! I went to Barca last summer and it was fantastic!

To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place…I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.
