Photography Spots - #1 - Watzmann, Germany
Hi Steemers & Steemettes,
I wanted to try my first post with an actual photography spot after introducing myself yesterday (and already gained my first follower - thanks for that). The devil is in the details, so my goal for these posts will be to describe as much about the actual location as possible without bombarding you with 100s of my own pictures. Wouldn't that just be lovely?
A look to one of the most iconic mountains in Germany - Watzmann
The Watzmann is a mountain where you can hike, climb and do many things around it. It was actually voted one of the most beautiful mountains in Europe... However, it is a bit tricky to capture it in all its' glory. When approaching the mountain, or close to it, you sort of ask yourself "wtf?" - and rightly so. However, when positioned correctly, you find yourself looking at a great scene and one of the more prominent shapes in the mountain world.
I will start this off with an easy one, as anyone would be able to reach this little spot on top of the Kneifelspitze. You simply drive to one of the most southern points in Germany called Berchtesgaden, where you will find a slew of Touristy things to do. However, if you want something local (i.e. something that many Germans would consider a Sunday Hike) then continue a bit onward to the "Wallfahrtskirche Maria Gern", which is a beautiful little Chapel in a very very small town. From thereon you will be able to walk up the Kneifelspitze (all of which are marked). Once you arrive at the top, you have the options of taking a picture of the beautiful scenery, drink a beer (or other beverage) and eat something. At least the hut should be open from June to September to accommodate people!
So, dare a look to the south and Bam!, you're golden.
I hope you enjoyed this nifty tid-bit on where you get a nice view of the Watzmann. If you come later in the day, you might catch a nice sunset. On top of that, you have many fantastic things to see in the area, including Austria.
Enjoy!
I have a friend who loves Germany, and I'm sure she's gonna love this.
Hiking is one of the favorite activities here in Germany, so I hope she enjoys the post.
