📷 Of Hornets and Honey Bees
This hornet has caught a bee:
It is filleting it, while hanging from a tree branch. The head has already been removed:
Snap, and there goes a wing:
Some further trimming, and the former honey bee is ready for transport back to the hornet's nest:
Hornets don't hunt bees and other insects to eat them; they fillet them and feed them to the little young hornets.
Isn't that cute?
They’re just kissing right dad? They’re friends right?
Yes son, they're just hugging, but the big one doesn't know its own strength. Always hug carefully and safely!
Aw that is cute, such delightful things!
Very well caught!
From the looks of it, this is a European hornet (Vespa crabro) working on a European honey bee (Apis mellifera), am I correct?

Quite goods one...i too got a hornet..sitying on my lappy..
Not sure about cuteness, but one thing I know for sure - you're courageous photographer
Not really; this species of hornet is quite friendly to humans. They don't like you standing too close to their nest, but they will even warn you first before they attack. Take a step back and all is well.
Besides, this one had its hands full ...
what a polite species :)
I see it here also.... this big bugs eat everything :))
They will catch anything. This one was hanging out near a bees' nest earlier, all it had to do was fly past and grab one.
You must make a video when they make this :))
Such a amazing photography :) well done !
