One shawl is not enough and a bit of Publikumsbeschimpfung
Last week I asked for your opinion which yarn I should use to crochet a triangle shawl and sorry, but not sorry, you were not of great help. I thought it’s always good to start a post with insulting the audience, especially when you are German and would love to use the German word "Publikumsbeschimpfung" for once, nice or 😂😂😂 ?
Ok back to the insults. Where have you been? I was lost in my mismatched scrap yarn box frenetically searching for the perfect color combination, reaching out to you for help and what happened? Nothing. (@fiberfrau, @shanibeer, @appreciator and @carolineschell sorry for the generalisation, naturally I did not mean you) I had to choose the yarn completely alone while crying into my growing crochet shawl. At one point I pondered to climb into the emptied out scrap yarn box and count myself under the label discarded and forgotten. Are you even reading my posts???!?
So, here I am trying to rise a reaction out of your dear audience. I feel like being in a fight between spouses of whom one is stonewalling and the other is taking aggressive efforts to get a reaction. Any reaction….?
Do you still love me?
With this melodramatic introduction I will now show you what happens if nobody helps me to choose yarn: I bought some new 😂
Not initially, but I did it. First, I started with some balls of yarn from my stash. I used this easy granny square pattern made of double crochet and I felt like a crochet superhero because of the speed the shawl was growing. For some month now I only knitted or sewed, and my first love crochet was forgotten. But while working on this shawl, I could not put the hook away. The rhythm of crochet felt so naturally and easy and extremely fast. Creating a shawl instead of a sweater or cardigan also helped to get addicted to this project as I did not need to take notes while crocheting. The one hiccup I encountered was pattern related. I too late noticed that I prefer a crescent formed shawl over a real triangle. Only at the very last rows I started to not only increase in the middle of the row but also at the end and beginning, to get the slightly curved form.
This I will remedy in my actual project. The one I was forced to buy new yarn for.
Here you can watch me buying coffee samples and a porcelain filter as presents. And I am a bit proud: I am wearing a handmade puff sleeve sweater, my handmade Jenna cardigan and the new crochet shawl
The scrap yarn shawl was so satisfying that I instantly wanted to start the next one, being happy to use even more of my single balls of yarn. But then I went shopping for birthday presents and I could not resist the lure of a yarn shop. I only wanted to buy one new color to complete my new scrap yarn selection, but I was not tough enough. I bought more…
I found this cute candy pink super fluffy yarn and a crazy cuddly gradient yarn in light coral, pink and yellow with tweedy flecks of magenta and violet. And I am in love with this new color combination. But this week I do not have spare time to finish a whole shawl (but I soooooo want) as I must prepare for a group exhibition and dance performance on Saturday. You can see some of my paintings and the new shawl on the photo: The paintings are waiting for me to protect them with varnish, but the shawl is distracting me.
Dear readers, please wish me luck with the exhibition. My initial insults Publikumsbeschimpfung are not for real, no they are a cry for (your) love and comments.

Thank you for featuring my post, I feel honoured <3
Of course! The correct answer was buy some new yarn!
How did I not know?
Very pretty 😍
Finally someone understood 😂😂😂 It feels so good to get justification for unnecessary yarn purchases. I am already thinking about a red/black themed shawl... I am intensely addicted.
And thank you for the compliment 🌈🌈
I must say, you seem capable of making excellent choices unaided
Thaaaank youuuu 😍 But honestly my choices get expensive over time ... I am pondering another shawl with a red / black theme and I maybe need more yarn 😂😂😂
Sorry, but I must have forgotten the post immediately after reading it - maybe due to me hating granny squares. They were what kept me from crocheting for decades. So decisions for such a project you'll have to do without me, because my answer would be "no yarn" ;)

Ohnooooo I did not want to retraumatise you 😱 As I did not learn crochet at school but later in my adult life, I thankfully have no granny square phobia. I use this stitch not very often, so I find it a nice and easy diversion.

❤ Good luck with your exhibit! And the shawl! Those new yarns look perfect for it. :)
Thank youuuuu. The rehearsal yesterday went well (too well... I am suspicious) and tomorrow we will install light and the rest of the artworks. I hope people will come and buy :-DDD
Ich bin nicht beleidigt. :)
