Spiders - MyPictureDay
QUICK DEFINITION: Macro photography (or photomacrography or macrography ), is extreme close-up photography, usually of very small subjects and living organisms like insects, in which the size of the subject in the photograph is greater than life size (though macrophotography technically refers to the art of making very large photographs). By some definitions, a macro photograph is one in which the size of the subject on the image sensor is life size or greater. However, in other uses it refers to a finished photograph of a subject at greater than life size.
The ratio of the subject size on the film plane (or sensor plane) to the actual subject size is known as the reproduction ratio. Likewise, a macro lens is classically a lens capable of reproduction ratios of at least 1:1, although it often refers to any lens with a large reproduction ratio, despite rarely exceeding 1:1.
I usually like to shoot any tipe of insects or arachnids but in this post I will present you a baby Tegenaria Parietina that I found in my house some weeks ago, this is a spider that can grow to an overall length of 14cm but in my case, it was only 2cm long.
Many times I've been asked why I keep photographing them or, why I'm not afraid or grossed out by them and my answear for all of the people was that, they are beautiful. They are harmless to humans (well, not all of them but in my case, not any single spider bit me).
They are curious little creatures, they like to see their reflections in the lenses and some of them jump on the glass to see themselves better.
The instruments I used to shoot this spider:
-My trusty Nikon D5200 body
-40mm M42 mount extension tubes with Nikon F to M42 mount ring
-an old M42 35 mm f/2.8 Auto Beroflex lens mounted backward (for an even higher magnification)
-a ring flash mounted on camera and a TTL flash in the background in slave mode
Who doesn't like some slim and long female legs, am I right?
I hope you enjoyed this post and I'm sorry if I made it too long. If you have anything to say or to ask me, go ahead!
Thank you! @Narkissanky
