Mellow Yellow Wednesday Color Challenge

Native to North America, sunflowers (Helianthus) are one of my favorite things to grow. They can out-compete the fast-growing grasses for sunlight. This is important if you get as excited about regular weeding as I do.

Of course, you can eat the seeds raw or prepared, or you can crush the seeds to make oil. I’d like to get a small oil press someday soon and feed the meal to the chickadoos.
