myday #24 - 114℉ in Australia + A Dusty Vehicle = One Epic Journey - Part Three
I made it.
Karijini was everything I hoped for and was totally worth the hours spent on the road as read in part one and part two of this epic journey.
The colour of the earth was nothing like I had seen before. It's rich rusty red landscape filled my lens everywhere I turned.
I was up bright and early the very next day ready to capture the unique scenery. I headed to a local gorge and started my decent into the rocky creek bed below. With each step the overhanging trees appeared smaller as they stood lonely against the pristine blue sky.
I was met at the bottom of the gorge by a massive pool of water that trickled down the slatted rocks to form a beautiful waterfall.

Moving to the other side of the waterfall I was able to look down at the view below and capture the sun reflecting off the surface of the water.
After the waterfall I stumbled across a side gorge that didn't have any water present in it. The view was striking so I decided it would make a great photo. I had to overcome the lighting challenges as the gorge was in a vastly different exposure to the bright sky above. I set up my camera on the tripod and took a number of exposures so I could merge them together in Photoshop.
I took many other photos throughout the day and almost got lost in one of the gorges, but that's another story! Walking back up to the top was a bit of a struggle with all my gear, but when I arrived the sun was starting to dip on the horizon allowing me to take some last photos.
If you ever get the chance to spend an extra week in Western Australia I highly recommend you visit Karijini National Park. You won't be disappointed and you will certainly leave with many memories and photos!

I actually shot this image during the day and then practiced using my photoshop knowledge to add some stars in from another photo. The whole scene sort of worked out. If I'm going there again I will stay down there until dark and try shooting this for real! Thanks for commenting and you upvote :)
Ah I see! Because I was wondering how did the stars actually circulate that way, though I know that there ARE some areas we can take such a shot!
hahaha yeah. I have actually taken photos of the starts like this. All you need is the camera on a long exposure (say around one hour) and then the rotation of the earth will make the stars appear that way.
One hour?? You mean it is on a video mode or keep it active for an hour before the shot?
Ah, sorry I mean you keep the shutter open in a setting called 'BULB' which allows you to keep the camera's shutter open as long as you want. I typically will use this mode with a remote release as it allows me to lock off the shutter button to keep it open and unlock the switch which closes the shutter. I'll have to add long exposures to my list of future tutorials to share :)

wow 45 C..that is a distinct temperature difference to what its like over here in Victoria right now at a nice 12 C.
Looks like a nice place to visit regardless of the temp though!.

I probably would have melted myself, even though I am already used to hot climate. When I was in Dubai and it was 43C I already feel the heat yet I was not able to sweat; probably because it was too dry (desert). So for 45C... I do not know. I might need a lot of water!
