NYC roots that grow out of the concrete
The power of trees as ametaphor for working hard and keeping a strong mindset. Walking around in NYC and coming across trees that have literally split open the concrete pavement in order to grow. This is the power of nature.
As humans we need to do more to protect nature. She has to fight so hard to survive and she is amazing at it but at a certain point we won't be able to continue treating nature so badly.
Walking near Central Park in Manhattan you'll see many roots that have extended beyond their small platform of soil. Roots slowly push at the bricks embetted in the sidewalk. They will win because over decades they slowly push on the stone and uproot the bricks from the their mortar. It reminds me of the slow but persistent erosion of water on Sandy shores and metal.
Trees are amazing survivors
Nature is resilient. We can learn a lot in how life seeks to survive even as text ecosystem around it is choking.
