Crescent Beach at Night - night photography
I took this photo a couple nights ago while vacationing at a little beach house in Crescent Beach, Florida with my family. I am definitely not an astrophotography expert, but it's fun to play around with it!
Because this is a 13 second exposure (together with being shot at a 35mm focal length), the stars are slightly elongated instead of perfectly circular dots. The cosmos are always moving, and that movement is visible with a long enough exposure duration! I also took other images where I increased the ISO and used a faster shutter speed to better preserve the shape of the stars, but in the end I preferred the look of this lower ISO shot.
I shot with the Samyang 35mm because its the best mix of large aperture, wide angle, and sharpness that I currently own. The Sony 24-240mm can shoot wider, but it's not sharp corner to corner wide open at 24mm.
If I shot this again, I'd see if I could make a composition I liked in which the path to the beach ran diagonal instead of up the center of the frame. I'm happy with it though!
