First flight landing in Sikkim
Finally, Pakyang, the first airport in Sikkim, India's northeast state, has been launched. On Thursday, flying from Kolkata, a commercial flight was first landed at the airport.
In the meantime, the airport welcomed the two water vessels by splashing water from the two 'Water Canon Salute', airport authorities said. The flight was owned by SpiceJet Airlines under the Indian government's Wooden project.
Earlier, the airport was inaugurated on 24 September by the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The foundation stone of the airport was set nine years ago.
SpiceJet will operate Kolkata-Pakyung-Kolkata flight every day under the Udan project. Because the Udan project of the Civil Aviation Ministry of the country has planned to establish this regional airport and improve communication.

The airport expanded to more than one acre of the city. The airport has been installed on two kilometers high mountains of Pakiung village. Which is about 4,500 feet high above sea level.
Sikkim is the only one in all the states of India, which has no airport. As far as border and tourism are important, the airport requirements of the state were quite extensive. But they were deprived of that opportunity so long ago.
The foundation stone of this airport was established in 2009 in Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal border areas.
With the opening of the airport, contact with confined states in the Himalayan region will increase. Besides, this facility will also improve the tourism sector of the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that, if Pakyon International Airport will be further developed and our people will get many benefits.
