Trip to Norway: day 7- Kjeragbolten
Hello everyone,
On our 7th day we woke up at 8 o’clock. We had a good breakfast before driving for 90 minutes till we got to the parkinglot at the base of Kjeragbolten. The road to the parkinglot was very winding with a scenic view of the Norwegian fjords.
The trail started with an ascent of 50m.
On the steepest and most slippery parts the trail was guided by a metal chain.
I didn’t think that the the rocks were slippery because I had the right shoes. I could not believe my eyes when I saw that some people were walking with running shoes and casual shoes. Even though the terrain was very steep and rocky we always were accompanied by sheep.
After the 50m ascent the trail has a descent followed by a short flat part of the trail.
And then there was the hard part - stairs. That was the hardest part for me. I just hate stairs.
When I finally got to the top of the stairs there was a small house there. It was an emergency house for hikers when they get caught in a bad storm. The next thing that was waiting for us was a steep slippery ascent guided by metal chains.
A lot of people were struggling and a lot of them needed a while to get to the top of the ascent.
While we were walking we stopped a few times to take photos of the beautiful nature that we were surrounded by.
After a while we got to the flat part of the trail.
The wind got very strong there and after 2 minutes walking there it started raining but it stopped after 5 minutes. Then we finally got to the famous rock that is stuck between two rocks. Of course we had to take a picture or two.
And here is the view you get from the rock.
We were lucky that we already took the pictures because it started pouring after a while. So we headed back to the car. I must say that it was harder to go down then to go up. Before we got to the car it stopped raining but it again started after we were already in the car. We again drove for 90 minutes till we got to the lodging where we ate and then went to sleep. It was a great day.
I hope you liked the post.
