RE: HDR TUTORIAL – How I make an HDR
Hey,
Great tutorial. Might be worth mentioning that it is "tone mapping" that maps the high dynamic range of the images onto the dynamic range offered by the monitor as this is how some packages reference that process. Just a technicality though, it seems that the term "HDR" is morphing to cover the whole process of taking the images as well as tone mapping process.
HDR sounds way cooler too :)
Also, have you ever taken a look at Jimmy McIntryres luminosity masking methods for blending multiple exposures? He's got a really neato youtube channel and software. Worth having a look at, even if you have your own process for this down to a t..

Yes! I was wondering wether or not to mention his luminosity masking methods here, but really its such a big topic on its own. I'm a big fan of his work, I even bought his Raya Pro extension for photoshop to play with. Though I think his process is way more labour intensive for similar results. But the advantage here is that you have way more control over the results.
hmmm yes, good point. I will update it to mention tone mapping though simply as just the setting used since HDR software now does offer different options.. I think tone mapping really just refers to a particular type of algorithm being used. Thanks for spotting that! :)
