Using the lamps for portraits... for the first time :)

I have to admit never before I was interested in shooting portrait photos, because my main interest were always views from above. But then one day a friend company asked me if I can and if I could do some corporate portraits for them. I said sure... and started to search for a good and cheap way to do this :)

I found there are a cheap lamps with tripods and umbrellas, 100zł (28 USD) each. I bought 2 of them, for the key lighting and filling. White umbrellas diffuse the light, creating soft and nice beam of light, perfect for such portraits.

Below you can see the example of photo shot with the lights (I'm the guy on the right):

And with the natural light in the room:

I have to admit the difference is HUGE, and now I wonder how in the hell I didn't but such compact additional lighting before, just in case. There are no strange shadows on faces, they look nicer and smoother, and cut the object from background. What do you think?
