The Art Of Black & White

Anyone who was lucky enough to shoot film will remember learning to see in black and white. What I mean by this is if shooting a roll of black and white then suddenly you have to pre-visualise your subject or scene in front of you before you go anywhere near the shutter button.

Speaking with a lot of newcomers to the magical world of photography, they find this hard to do as the screen on the back sometimes detracts from our natural power of pre-visualisation.

The advice I often give is if you are passionate about bagging a few stunning black and white shots, then start to see the world in black and white. Live it, breath it, then shoot it trying to capture what you've already seen in your minds eye.
