Train ruins @ El Encanto, Venezuela
In Los Teques, Venezuela, there is an emblematic spot that transports us to past centuries: El Encanto train ruins.
This route belonged to The Great Railway of Venezuela, the largest railway system built in the country to date. It stopped working in 1998.
The name 'El Encanto', which means 'The Charm', fits perfectly to this place. You start this adventure going into a lush forest full of eucalyptus, jabillos and bucare trees.
Every tiny detail here is magic.
Here I saw the biggest cobweb of my life, it occupied several trees.
You get to walk through dark and humid tunnels.
And to cross viaducts of around 40 m of height with no type of protection (I am afraid of heights and my heart almost exploded, but it was totally worth it).
During the walk it is possible to see part of the rails, some pieces were stolen and others were buried in landslides and undergrowth.
You can also walk in the ghost wagons and see the beautiful mountains on the other side.
This route takes about 5 h walking. Hope you enjoyed the view!

It must be so scarey walking through those viducts, I imagine they're pitch dark inside? I would love to do this walk, in fact would love to go to Venezuela one day.
Despite its economic problems, Venezuela is such a lovely place and it has several landscapes to offer :) you should definitely come to visit.
Have I told you how much I love your work? Have seen these photos quite a few times, but they get me every time ;3;
It is necessary that I visit El Encanto before I leave!
