Pinup in the shadows!

Good evening, friends! I’m winding down after a really overstimulating couple of days. I had so much work to do, and despite my best efforts, have only been able to cut through half of it. @tarotbyfergus and I have been having epic 3D chess level games of Magic: The Gathering. The kind that requires you to keep 15 dimensions, battlefield states and future moves in your head for 2+ hours. I lost one because of a dumb mistake, and he lost tonight’s because of a dumb mistake. These games have encompassed everything I love about MTG, though. Less time editing, but what I lacked in Photoshop hour I gained in therapeutic recreational […which does, believe it or not, allow me to work better].

Tonight’s photography comes from a shoot last year. Eeeesh! I hate reading that after a paragraph about how I played a couple of two hours MTG games. This woman is a close friend, wonderful model, talented burlesques performer and extremely patient friends. I value that more than almost anything right now. Her name is Darby Fox and she’s a Vegas based pinup model. One of the things I love and admire most about her is that she knows I’ll never forget her. Most of this year, I’ve been putting out small fires of clients that grow impatient for their photos. Darby has never done that. Ever.

I’ve previously shared photos from this shoot of Darby in my post “New work from LA w/ pin-up model, Darby Fox!”. I’ve repeatedly referred to her as a dream client, and she is. Her unmatched patience and understanding aside, she is stunning in person. She embodies everything that one would think of as a pinup model. Limitless talent as a burlesque performer. She’s bright and theatrical in person, and she’s gifted in hair, make-up with exceptional style and endless wardrobe options. In all of our shoots, she even locked down our locations. Literally, all I have to do is show up and take beautiful pictures of her, which is almost impossible to not achieve.

These photos were taken at a massive residence at home sitting high on the Pasadena Hills. I remember driving up narrow, European style roads that would wind up the mountains. The high you’d drive, the more break taking the houses, and this was at the very top. Darby was shoot ready with several outfits, including a gorgeous emerald green Catherine D’Lish robe. We shot both outside of the house under the sun, then a series of darker, sexier photos in doors. We played with light that poured in through the windows, always trying to create something different than our previous work together.

Thanks for reading. I have one more set from this shoot with Darby Fox to still finish. As soon as I do, I’ll be sharing it here on Steemit. In the meantime, who here is doing the WhaleShares thing? My buddy @anritco talked to me about it on Discord last year. I’m seeing a lot of familiar Steemit faces there now that they have a site and community. If you’re there, come find me and be my friend! www.whaleshares.io/@kommienezuspadt For more photography, art, illustration and the stories behind the work, follow me here @kommienezuspadt!

Superb work, as always, @kommienezuspadt. The darkness of your photos gives feeling of mystique, mystery and passion.

I really like the first photo, honor the name of your publication.
OH I missed that session!
I saw them and they are really beautiful!
@iamredbar looked very concentrated !.
Are you in shared whales? I have not reviewed it, vermillion is there, right? she said it in a recent publication.
And how is it?
I will have to check it out!

Particularly love how you used the natural light coming thru the windows and it shines perfectly on the model. Not to mention the awesome posture from her. Great work!
