Travel - Ethiopia - Content Isolation
Isolation from the world is a feeling many have (some at a lesser extent) called for at some point in their lives. Rural life is the isolation that fulfills many with basic needs. Poverty is an odd concept in these parts because seldom do villagers look at their situation demanding more than they can swallow. The ultimate contentment I would contend, but through global standards, which villagers do not personally measure themselves, they are seen as poor, destitute, and needing of “basic” necessities...the irony here is that they, in fact, have the basic necessities: Food, family, and a strong sense of Faith. They have survival tactics which they’ve lived off of for centuries. I’m not arguing that adequate healthcare and drinking systems be overlooked, but until you’ve seen the joy and contentment from rural villagers, it’s difficult to understand why one would still remain “off the grid”. I enjoy my material things, but the feel of an industrial-less environment is very soothing
