DOCUMENTARY AND STREET PHOTOGRAPHY: SANTA CRUZ DE MOMPÓS, COLOMBIA

Today I want to share with all of you a photographic compilation about my trip to the small town of Santa Cruz de Mompós in Colombia. Mompós is an old colonial city dating from 1810, which can be seen in the architecture of its buildings and its cobbled streets. Mompós is located on the banks of the Magdalena River, this fact made that this small province were of great importance during the Spanish colony and in the first republic due to transport and fluvial commerce between the provinces of Cartagena and Antioquia.

Today Santa Cruz de Mompós is a great tourist attraction in Colombia, and is visited by both Colombians and foreigners interested in the enjoyment of colonial architecture that is preserved in very good condition in the historic downtown of the city.

Today I want you to enjoy this tour through the small town of Santa Cruz de Mompós, a very quiet and friendly town with everyone who wants to visit this window to the past.

Magdalena River,

Is there any connection with the original Mary Magdalena, who traveled with Jesus as per the the gospels, when I read this name in your introduction that was the first thought came in to my mind. And your brief history was good enough to get an idea what this place is about.

But your decision to post the photos in Monochrome was the best thing happened in this blog. B & W photos have a life oozing out from it if you watch it carefully. So all the photos are having special effects and an appeal to all steemiens going through this one.

When I scrolled your blog just casually before going into the details what you had written about it, the building photos were the one which caught my attention. Even in Black & White the photos shows it finer details that reflects its beauty and its superior mode of construction and I was wondering what type of construction was it. Good to know that it is the famous colonial type of construction.

The crows, the cat, the gate, the roof, the people and the dying tree - all these snaps have its unique beauty in your travel story. and it is a great post to be honest.

BTW which camera you are using....Keep posting...

hi @juancarlos1175, your photos are absolutely A M A Z I N G !! I love the black and white style a lot, they give a sense of sacredness when captured. the portraits are sublime. I hope you are a professional photographer, because you deserve to do this work with your talent !! I have been to Colombia, to Cartagena, but not to this village. what time of year did you go? I suffered so much heat in May !! congratulations and thanks for sharing with us

Hi how are you? Good thing you liked my photographic work. Unfortunately I do not earn a penny with my photos, but at least I enjoy it a lot when I have the opportunity to travel and take photos.

Mompós is very hot all year round, so you can go at any time. Mompós is not as nice as Cartagena, but it has its charm, it's like traveling to the past.

instead you are really good, I hope that sooner or later you can photograph for work, because since you have to work a lot in this life, there is nothing better than being able to do your passion with your work, do you agree? then I take this note about Mompos for when I return to Colombia. have you been to the tyrona park?

Hi. Yes, I have been in the Tayrona Park, Its a excellent place.
I'm a biologist, but I would like earn some money with my photos. Greetings my friend.

How can it be possible that this publication does not have more profit? These pictures deserve more money, more reward because they are worth it. They are incredible, the black and white theme gives you that point of antiquity, Colombia is a country with a lot of culture, how do you feel after having been there? Really, congratulations for having this natural talent, being a photographer is an art!
