[ENG-SPN] The Meninas in Madrid / Las Meninas de Madrid

With autumn here and Christmas almost upon us, creativity is back on the agenda and a new collection of surprising Meninas is once again moving around the centre of a city, Madrid, which has been enjoying lighting for days now, which, leaving aside the suspicions of the terrifying revolutionary tax of some energy companies that practice a progressive and indulgent vision of usury, encourages us to let ourselves be carried away by that spirit that we usually lack during the remaining eleven months of the year and that, probably, returns to that mysterious place in the East to which the Three Wise Men always return.

Ironies aside, since Spain already had a great teacher in the figure of Francisco de Quevedo, centuries before the Americans exported the prolific Ambrose Bierce, these putative daughters of Velázquez - in the good sense of the word, that is - are once again the recipients of values that will motivate something so human, but, unfortunately, so persecuted in these times, that perhaps, I hope not, it tends to disappear: discrepancy.

Whatever the case and may reason and unreason be judged at the appropriate time, either by Heaven or by Hell, as far as I am concerned, I tend to sympathize, today more than ever, with the Menina who wears as a habit the autonomous colors of a sister region, Valencia, whose recent tragedy, some would have us believe, was natural.

Con el otoño y ya prácticamente en vísperas de Navidades, la creatividad vuelve a estar a la orden del día y una nueva colección de sorprendentes Meninas vuelve a movilizarse por el Centro de una ciudad, Madrid, que hace días que ya disfruta de un alumbrado, que, dejando aparte las suspicacias del terrorífico impuesto revolucionario de unas energéticas que practican una visión progresista y consentida de la usura, anima a dejarse llevar por ese espíritu del que solemos carecer durante los restantes once meses del año y que, probablemente, retorne a ese misterioso lugar de Oriente al que siempre regresan los Reyes Magos.

Ironías aparte, que para eso España ya tuvo un gran maestro en la figura de Francisco de Quevedo, siglos antes de que los norteamericanos exportaran al prolífico Ambrose Bierce, estas hijas putativas de Velázquez -dicho sea, en el buen sentido de la palabra- vuelven a ser las receptoras de unos valores que motivarán algo tan humano, pero, por desgracia, tan perseguido en estos tiempos, que quizás, yo espero que no, tienda a desaparecer: la discrepancia.

Sea como sea y que la razón y la sinrazón sean juzgadas en el momento en el que corresponda, bien por el Cielo o bien por el Infierno, en lo que a mí respecta, tiendo a solidarizarme, hoy más que nunca, con la Menina que lleva como hábito los colores autonómicos de una región hermana, Valencia, cuya reciente tragedia, algunos pretenden hacernos creer que ha sido natural.
