[ENG-SPN] Stories of Liébana / Historias de la Liébana

The brilliance, both historical and legendary, of this ancient monastery, located in an idyllic corner of the Picos de Europa, very close to the beautiful town of Potes, continues to be so impressive that, in modern times, there were even foreign expeditions, well equipped and financed, who traveled here in search of one of the most disconcerting and desired objects of Antiquity: the Ark of the Covenant.

Believe it or not, and regardless of whether they left empty-handed, the truth, however, is that both dreaming and having unwavering faith can move mountains. Something that the pilgrims who arrive to this happy region of Liébana know very well, after traveling a tortuous mountain path, where they will not find the Ark of the Covenant, a detail that matters little, since, in reality, they are not looking for it, but they are On the contrary, the largest known fragment of a symbol of Christianity: the True Cross or Cross where Christ was crucified.

Hasta tal punto continúa siendo impresionante el brillo, tanto histórico como legendario, de este milenario monasterio, asentado en un idílico rincón de los Picos de Europa, muy cercano a la hermosa población de Potes, que, en tiempos modernos, hubo incluso expediciones extranjeras, bien pertrechadas y financiadas, que se desplazaron hasta aquí en busca de uno de los objetos más desconcertantes y ansiados de la Antigüedad: el Arca de la Alianza.

Créase o no, e independientemente de que se fueran con las manos vacías, lo cierto, no obstante, es que tanto soñar, como tener una fe inquebrantable, puede llegar a mover montañas. Cosa que saben muy bien los peregrinos que llegan hasta esta feliz comarca de la Liébana, después de recorrer un tortuoso camino montañés, donde no encontrarán el Arca de la Alianza, detalle que poco importa, pues, en realidad, no la buscan, pero sí, por el contrario, el mayor fragmento que se conoce de todo un símbolo de la Cristiandad: la Vera Cruz o Cruz donde fue crucificado Cristo.
